Basic Training Centre, Dudhnoi is a Government Teachers’ Training institution, falls geographically at the latitude of 25.9806’ N and longitude of 90.7852’ E at an elevation of 44m above MSL. It lies at the middle of the Dudhnoi Town at NHW 17, connects North Salmara junction at the north, connects West Garo Hills via NH 217 in the south.  Dudhnoi town is mainly settled by the tribal belonging to the tribes mainly Rabha, Boro and Garo.

From the year of its establishment in 1949 with the principles of Basic Education system founded by Mahatma Gandhi, the institution had come up with full capacity of all programs for appointed Elementary teachers in the State. Now it has been attained long 66 years on its own acquired land measuring about 21 Bighas and 19 Lechas under the Revenue Circle, Dudhnoi, Goalpara, Assam.

Since its establishment it has been conducting training for Primary Teachers irrespective of districts of Assam. This Basic Training Centre, Dudhnoi too has been up-gradated to Garo Medium along with General Medium , Assamese in the last 1978.

In 1949 it was under the Directorate of Elementary Education, the Government of Assam, and with the establishment of SCERT in the state it has come under the Directorate of SCERT, the Government of Assam.

With its long dedication imparting training for In-Service and Stipendiary Teachers’, it has also been conducted time to time short-term Orientation Courses and also been engaged to various district and state educational programs.
